How to Get to Buscalan Village in Tinglayan, Kalinga

Picture
Manila as your starting Point, the village can be reached from either Tabuk in Kalinga or Bontoc in the Mountain Province.

Via Tabuk Victory Liner offers daily trips to Tabuk in their Kamias and Sampaloc Terminal. It's a 10 to 11 hours ride. The fare is around Php780-Php820 fro more information please check out this link, Victory Liner. In Tabuk you have to ride a jeep or bus going to Bontoc or Tinglayan across Saint William’s Cathedral. The ride takes around three hours and fare is around P150. Your destination is Bugnay, from there you can ride a habal-habal going to Buscalan turning point. I would not advise that you wait for the jeep from Bontoc that pass through Bugnay at around 2:30-4:30PM. Estimated time of arrival in Busclan turning point via habal-habal is at around 8:30-9:00AM, from Buscalan Turning point it is about one to one and half hour of trek. Estimated Time of Arrival in Buscalan Village 11:00AM
Via Bontoc [The Better Option if you are coming from Manila]

Earlier Route is to take the CODA Bus Liner [for more info please click CODA Bus], they have direct route from Manila to Sagada that will pass by Banaue and Bontoc, your first target destination. You can find their Terminal in E. Rodriguez, Quezon City, the bus leaves every 9:00pm. It's about 10-11 hours ride to Bontoc, in Bontoc you will have to catch the Bus going to Tabuk and then get off in Bugnay to ride a habal-habal going to Buscalan Turning Point, estimated time of arrival via this route is 10:00-10:30AM, from Buscalan Turning point it is about one to one and half hour of trek.Estimated Time of Arrival in Buscalan Village 12:00PM

Later Route is to take the Ohayami Bus Line going to Banaue, the bus leaves at 10:00PM and 10:30PM, I suggest you call their number to check schedule. The duration of the ride is about 9-10 hours, in Banaue there is a free shuttle from their Banaue Terminal to Banaue Town Proper, there is also a van that offers ride going to Sagada that will also pass by Bontoc. You can choose any of the two just keep in mind that the Jeep going to Buscalan leaves Bontoc at 1:00PM, I suggest you take the van, the van will bring you to Banaue Town Proper for breakfast and will make two stops, Banaue View Points and Souvenir shop, it's like a tour, fare is Php200 per person, you will arrive in Bontoca at aroung 10:00-10:30AM, the van will drop you off at PNB Bank, you can ride a tricycle and tell the driver to bring you to Buscalan Jeep Terminal, it is beside a local restaurant. Fare is Php100, it is an hour and half ride to Buscalan Turning Point that would be around 2:30-3:00PM. Estimated Time of Arrival in Buscalan Village 4:00PM.
